Health as a Community Right
The COVID-19 pandemic deepened the demand for community-based healthcare. In response, Humara Bachpan Trust added Community Health as a thematic priority — leveraging the community platform for primary care, essential public health functions, and the engagement and empowerment of people in relation to their health.
HBT’s community health strategy focuses on the most vulnerable — children, women, older persons, people with chronic conditions, and persons with disabilities. By bringing services to doorsteps and digitally connecting rural populations to specialist care, HBT ensures no one is left behind.
From cancer awareness camps in Bhubaneswar to telehealth consultations in Madhya Pradesh’s remote Malanpur belt, HBT’s multi-pronged model creates lasting health infrastructure where it is needed most.

Arogya Disha — Making Advanced Healthcare Accessible
The 32 peripheral villages of the Malanpur industrial belt in Bhind District, Madhya Pradesh are home to over 50,000 people — yet served by only one Primary Healthcare Centre with severely limited facilities. To address this, Humara Bachpan Trust established ‘Arogya Disha’ in partnership with AkzoNobel India.

Key Achievements
Stories from the Field
These stories illustrate how HBT’s community health interventions create lasting change in the lives of the most vulnerable.
Sheela’s Migraine-Free Life
For 11 years, Sheela — a 57-year-old from Lahchura village — suffered from debilitating migraines, spending her savings on repeated trips to Gwalior without relief. Through Arogya Disha, she was connected to Neurologist Dr. Dixit. Within three weeks, her migraines faded significantly. Today, her entire family uses E-Arogya Kendra.
“I have no words to thank Arogya Disha and Neurologist Dr. Dixit. It feels so good to no longer have those painful migraine attacks.”
Narayani Pal’s Journey of Hope
Narayani Pal, 60, from Tilori was diagnosed with dangerously high blood sugar (400 mg/dL). Her severe diabetes meant doctors were hesitant to perform the eye surgery she needed. After months of consistent care at E-Arogya Kendra, her sugar levels dropped to a healthy 110 — and she regained hope for the surgery she needed.
“The support from the ANM and the medical team at E-Arogya Kendra was crucial. This is what accessible healthcare means for communities like ours.”
Annapurna — Finding Healing Through Trust
Annapurna, 22, silently suffered from a suspected breast tumour for years — fearing stigma and lacking family support. When HBT began community sessions in her neighbourhood in 2024, she opened up. With counseling and emotional support, she sought help, received timely treatment for a non-cancerous lump and has fully recovered.
“I am grateful to the team that stood by my side, helping me regain both my health and confidence when I had no one else to turn to.”
Suman’s Triumph — A Journey to Motherhood
Suman faced four years of fertility challenges. When she finally conceived, severe pain led a nearby hospital to recommend abortion. Determined, Suman sought treatment at E-Arogya Kendra. ANM Sharda and Dr. Jayshree devised a careful care plan. Nine months later, Suman delivered a healthy baby boy normally.
“Without timely intervention at the PHC, I might have been deprived of the happiness of motherhood.”
