Humara Bachpan was conceptualized and initiated by Dharitri Patnaik, an international social development expert and entrepreneur. Humara Bachpan Trust (HBT) was registered in August 2014 to fill the gap in the development sector as no other organization in India was working on living conditions of young children in urban poverty. Humara Bachpan Trust’s work initially focused at par with United Nation’s ‘New Urban Agenda’ for sustainable urbanization with children, youth and women to have their voices heard and make them active participants in planning and shaping their cities. Gradually, we have expanded our scope of work to rural areas’ issues of poverty and marginalisation.
