Children Led Planning (CLP) is an innovative method which involves a ten-step process through which children analyze their situation, identify and prioritize issues, explore potential resources, identify stakeholders, and plan for a dream neighborhood. The children identify impediments to health and safety in their communities and cities and develop neighborhood improvement plans. The children advocate for these improvements with city government officials through direct lobbying and formal planning in municipal planning committees. This is an empowering process where the children act as catalyst to bring changes in their neighborhood by becoming “Change Makers”. Through CLP, inclusive, livable, and child and family friendly smart cities are being envisaged for children. CLP was initiated in Bhubaneswar in the year 2012.
