A Campaign On safe And Healthy Environment For Young Children In Urban Poverty.


‘Humara Bachpan’ is a non-profit organization advocating for safe and healthy living conditions of children residing in urban poverty. It is led by children who identify the issues, prioritize them and propose solutions address those issues before the appropriate authorities. The organization also works with young boys and girls and also women. The focus of our work is creating an enabling built environment for public-civic engagements and participation of children, youth and women in urban governance.

  • Developing city level work plan along with the Humara Bachpan Campaign fellows, identifying and analysing city level stakeholders in alignment with the city & national level campaign strategy
  • Mapping slums, clusters and city level institutes, organisations and expertise of various stakeholders and network partners
  • Organising campaign related meetings, trainings and events on regular basis
  • Responsible for creation of city level federations of child leaders by taking active representatives from slums and cluster level children groups
  • To act as a Nodal person for initiating the children-led-planning process, starting from training to implementation and completion of the process at the slum level and city level
  • Conducting monthly, quarterly and half-yearly reviews with the team and evaluating the city level plan
  • Compiling and preparing monthly, Quarterly and yearly reports for city level and submitting the same to the Program coordinator
  • Identifying Capacity building measures and developing training plans for fellows and child leaders at the city level in coordination with the Knowledge team
  • Facilitating data collection in Cities & slums (if required)
  • Organising city and state level consultations with key stake holders
  • Organising Interactive sessions of Children groups with Urban Local Bodies (ULB)
  • Degree in MSW (Masters in Social Work), At least 5-7 years of work experience in the development sector and has prior experience of working in communities, especially with children, youth and women.
  • Good interpersonal skills and leadership skills
  • Effective team management skills
  • Proper time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer i.e. MS Word, Excel, MS PPT
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work flow
  • Documentation Skills in English
  • Communication skills in English and Hindi and the local language for the city selected
